June 26th - International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
Drug addiction, being one of the most dangerous problems of humanity, becomes a source of serious disaster for society, people, and nation. It is equally dangerous for everyone, regardless of religion, language, race or social status. It causes crime, violence and corruption, encourages the spread of AIDS, slows down socio-economic development, and destroys families and communities. In order to draw public attention to problems related to drug addiction, the UN declared June 26th as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. In order to combat drug addiction, Azerbaijan has established a State Commission to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking. This struggle was defined as a national task. In accordance with the Action plan of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the implementation of the State program to combat illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan carries out large-scale awareness raising activities.
